Records filed with the Suffolk County Clerk including coroners' inquests and records of the County Wreckmaster (responsible for investigating shipwrecks); indictments, subpoenas, warrants, certificates of convictions and executions of judgments; jury fees and witness fees; records of justices of the peace, assessors, overseers of the poor, and notaries public; transcripts of judgments or records from other counties; notices of elections of town officers; and many other forms of official documents. Bound volumes include books of deeds, 1161-1679, 1687, and 1827-1838; Conveyances in Forfeiture, 1784; records of the Sessions Court, 1669-1684; minutes of the Court of Oyer and Terminer, 1787-1895; minutes of the Court of Common Pleas, 1760-1847; minutes of the Circuit Court, 1853-1902; Lis Pendes, notice of cases pending in Chancery Court, (Supreme Court after 1847), with an index, 1825-1859; and Supreme Court orders, 1892-1894. Also, dower records, 1811-1830; lists of county officials, 1817-1880; Suffolk County Notaries, 1912-1931, and Notaries from other counties, 1875-1931; certificates of tax sales in the town of Babylon, 1898; record of court fees paid to the County Treasurer, 1916-1958; funds paid by towns and villages, 1916-1943; and an index to deeds and mortgages, 1760-1918.
